Revelers have been celebrating New Year’s Eve in Times Square since 1904. To learn more about the celebration’s history, check out Times Square’s official website.
Typically, over 1 million people gather in the heart of Times Square to celebrate the New Year in-person. Additionally, over 1 billion people watch the Ball Drop from home, making this the #1 event you don’t want to miss!
Kia is our Official New Year’s Eve 2024 Countdown Sponsor! Kia will be counting us down to midnight along with over a BILLION people worldwide. Although the New Year celebrations begin at almost every hour around the globe, New Year’s Eve in Times Square is the most-watched NYE event!
The celebration will begin around 6PM EST. To kick off the festivities, the famous Times Square New Year’s Eve Ball will be raised to the top of the pole at 1 Times Square (Broadway at 43rd Street). At exactly 11:59PM EST, the Ball will make its 60-second descent down the flagpole to signal the start of the New Year.
More than 1 TON of confetti is dropped in Times Square BY HAND to ring in the New Year!
